Confessions of a Business Owner by Default

By: Janet La’Mour, CEO of Soyful Aromas

Candle making was NOT on my agenda! Never in a million years did I think that I would start a business, let alone own one.

However, my love for aromatherapy and candles helped save me when life thru me two HUGE curveballs. Everything that I knew to be true, desired, and had planned my life around no longer existed. I was left with a painful void, uncomfortable silence and a mixed heavy bag of emotions.

When I tell you that this has literally been a learning process, WOW! Needless to say I’ve made mistakes a long the way and I’ve had to go back to the drawing board multiple times often questioning why am I doing this!?

The one thing that has not changed that was present from day one is my love for aromatherapy. My passion and desire is to encourage others to be intentional and practice self care daily. I’ve met the most amazing people, mostly women, who for a variety of reasons don’t practice self-care regularly, feel guilty when they take time out for themselves, or think self-care is a luxury they can’t afford.

Building my brand is important to me because I want EVERYONE, specifically women, to know they are worthy and deserving of putting themselves first. It’s not selfish to ensure that your mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being are taken care of … it’s a necessity!

So I’ll keep going and I’ll keep striving to grow Soyful Aromas because it’s been a journey of personal healing, reflection, and growth that’s not uncommon to other women. It’s been my blessing by default.
